As previously mentioned, this blog will give readers insight to my process.
My painting from the last post is not working out right. The vision for it strayed. It looks too "busy". Even so, I removed several of the buildings tonight and added two trees. The closest tree didn't come out right, though. I added more atmospheric perspective to the buildings. One thing that kind of bugged me from early on was that the two closest one look like they are being engulfed in waves of the ocean. But, it just doesn't feel right. It was definitely a learning experience.
My intentions were to have the viewer be atop the stairs, so high above even the skyscrapers. I think I was successful with the steepness of the stairs. I wanted it to look like they lead down so far you can't even tell where the bottom is. I really liked the "glowing" aspect of the city. I even added one of my trademark things with the falling "shooting star" things that appear in most of my paintings.
Maybe I will come back to this painting later? But, for now I will start a fresh one tomorrow probably.
This weekend/week was a stressful one for me, so I think that added to it. Not being myself and thinking too much.
This was a sign for me to try something new. Thank you for reading.
