Night Out: Artist Block?

May 30, 2016

After a week of feeling like I was in a motivation dry spell, I worked on this painting I just added to my Shop, "Night At The Opera". I wanted to try something that recalled my first acrylic painting from late last year. Again, I added some play with shadows, highlights, and details like background and foreground people. I struggled with the overall layout of this piece. I do not like to have my pieces be too busy with details. The foreground table with plates and wine bottle is something new I felt like trying.

I hope the viewers are wondering what the person in the trench coat with the umbrella is thinking. Is that person crossing the road, your date for dinner?

The most difficult parts of this piece were the trees and figuring out the best amount of light reflections in the street.  Overall, I'm pleased I was able to finish this piece. Now, on to the next!

Thanks for stopping by.
